Though great systems programmers code in shell, one may need an assistive editor to write for threads, subprocesses and synchronization. Systematics is a simple C editor with syntax highlighting, word-level auto-complete and instant system call manual access. It also has a function name table to help on remembering and searching in a tidy fashion; each routine collection related to a common focus is sub-categorized into branches of 'Creation' [for building and initialization], 'Release' [for cleaning] and 'Intermediate' [for anything else]. Not so Interstellar but, hey, traditional Unix programming meets OS X gui conventions. Give it a try.
