Berlin developed Img2B64 to let programmers easily convert images to Base64 encoding, and, in reverse, convert Base64 code to an image. Base64 basically creates a text equivalent of an image so it can be stored in a database or easily transferred. It also makes sure the image stays intact when moved or stored. Base64 is commonly used in many of the applications you use every day, such as email via MIME, and it also aids in storing complex data in XML. A big advantage of Img2B64 is that you can export your Base64 image to CSS and HTML, which speeds up the loading time of your web page on current desktop and mobile browsers. Exporting your image to CSS as Base64-encoded strings circumvents additional HTTP requests, which also helps you speed up your mobile HTML5 applications. Because Img2B64 uses standard OS X image libraries, you can also perform other image conversions, such as PSD-to-PNG, and then those images to Base64 strings and back again.
